Dr. Charles J. McCammon “Community Blood Bank came out of a growing need for a local blood supply that Dr. McCammon & I recognized around 1970. Younger doctors were coming into the valley. There were new medical procedures and it was a long way to the San Bernardino-Riverside blood bank. Dr. McCammon said, ‘Well, we can do it here,’ so we started talking to people in the community and they were behind us. Dr. McCammon was a ‘doctor’s doctor,’ a pathologist and a hometown hero who brought the community blood bank idea to the valley and helped make it work.”
